Kim Elkas is the director of student affairs at George Brown College.
Her portfolio includes the Counselling Department, Accessibility Services, Career Services, Student Academic Support Initiatives, the Student Employment Program, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services for the five GTA colleges. Elkas is the vice-chair of the heads of student affairs and sits on various provincial and national committees on mental health in postsecondary education.
Prior to working at George Brown College, Elkas worked for over 20 years in a variety of non-profit mental health community settings dealing with issues of trauma and abuse, street prostitution, counselling youth in areas of sexuality, HIV/AIDS, addictions, as well as individuals living with chronic mental illness.
Elkas holds a bachelor of arts in Criminology and Sociology and a masters of education in Counselling Psychology, both from the University of Toronto.
