Professor Stuart is a social epidemiologist specializing in the broad area of psychiatric epidemiology, with a specific focus on mental-health-related stigma and discrimination. She is a professor in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Queen’s University, with cross appointments to the Department of Psychiatry and the School of Rehabilitation Therapy. She is the inaugural holder of the recently established Bell Canada chair in mental health and anti-stigma research.
